Why Work History and References are Mandatory

To ensure the highest standard of safety and reliability on the Road Ninja platform, all drivers are required to provide a work history and at least one professional reference.

This is mandatory to have your profile fully verified, which is a requirement for receiving and accepting job requests.

Selecting your driving skills (for example, indicating you can operate a Class 5 tipper) is only the first step in building your profile. Transport companies need verifiable proof of your capabilities before they will trust you with their cargo and equipment.

⭐️ Your Work History shows where you gained your experience and for how long. ⭐️ Your References allow the Road Ninja team and hiring companies to confirm that experience.

If your work history and references are incomplete:

  • Your profile verification will be stalled.

  • You won’t be eligible to receive or accept job requests.

  • Your stated skills will remain unvalidated, which prevents transport companies from hiring you through Road Ninja.

Aim for at least your last 2–3 relevant driving jobs (or all of them if you’ve had fewer).

How This Benefits You

Beyond being a platform requirement, a complete and verified work history directly affects your success on Road Ninja:

  • Transport companies are more likely to choose drivers with proven experience.

  • Verified experience can help you access better work and premium hourly rates.

  • The more relevant work history and referees you add, the stronger your profile. 2–3 jobs with at least one reference is the minimum to get verified, but adding more work history and additional references gives transport companies more confidence when deciding who to hire.

Acceptable Forms of Work History

You should add the past employers or contracts that match the driving skills you’ve selected on your profile.

For Employed Drivers, list your previous employers and dates of employment. For each job, include:

  • Your job title (e.g. Class 5 linehaul driver, metro delivery driver)

  • Vehicle types and licence classes you drove

  • Type of work (linehaul, metro, nights, civil, etc.)

  • Provide the contact details of a direct manager, dispatcher, or supervisor to act as your reference.

For Self-Employed / Owner-Drivers, list your past contracts or the companies you subcontracted for. Include:

  • Company name

  • Type of work and freight

  • How long you worked with them

  • Add testimonials or contact details for the clients you serviced in place of a traditional employer reference.

If you’re just getting started in driving, add whatever is relevant (your first driving job, related transport work, etc.). A small amount of honest detail is still far better than an empty profile.

Navigate to your Profile settings in the Road Ninja app and complete the Work History section, ensuring you add referee contact details.

  • From your profile in the Road Ninja app, select Job Experience.

  • Tap the "+" icon to add a new entry.

  • Specify the details of your previous job experience.

  • Toggle the "Use this job as a referee" option to On.

  • Fill in the required contact information for your referee.

How Your Information Is Used

Your work history and references are used only to:

  • Verify your experience, and

  • Help transport companies decide whether to hire you.

When a transport company views your profile on the platform, they are limited to seeing:

  • Employers, roles, employment dates, and types of work completed.

  • Any verification badges, star ratings, and professional comments left by previous employers who provided a reference.
