How to link a user login account to an Autotask contact

When a user signs in to Salesbuildr, the email address provides is used to automatically link the user to the Autotask contact with this email address.

When the user logs in with the domain extension that matches the record 0 account (your MSP) the user will be linked to that contact, even if other Autotask contacts exist with the same email address.

When the user logs in with an email address that has been used for different contracts at different accounts, the user will be linked to the parent account, if that exists.

When the user logs in with an email address that has been used for different contracts at different accounts and no parent child relation is found, the first user found with the email address found will be linked.

When the email address is not found on any Autotask contact, the user will not be linked to an Autotask contact and an issue will be logged in the Admin - Issue list.

You can manually link a user login to aa Autotask contact by navigating to Admin - Users and clicking on the user email address.

On this page, click "Seeing the wrong user below?" and search for the correct imported Autotask contact using their email address. You can identify the correct Autotask contact by checking the external ID which corresponds to the contact id found on the Autotask contact detail page.

Click save after selecting the correct Autotask contact. The users login is now linked to the correct contact and corresponding customers.
