How to Create a Roster Budget

Instructions to set up a daily budget and adjust rosters to meet it

Creating a roster budget helps align staffing plans with available funds and expected labour costs. Budgeting ensures rosters remain sustainable, supports payroll accuracy and assists with broader workforce planning. This guide explains how to create a roster budget in SaucedIt.

Creating a Roster Budget

  1. From the column to the left, click on Roster.

  2. Using the arrows, navigate to the correct roster period.

  3. Click on Filter.

  4. Ensure you have All selected for Shift Status, and ticks next to Show Area Costs and Show Costs.

  5. Click Submit.

  6. Click on the three dots to the right of Sort By.

  7. Select Budget from the drop-down menu.

  8. Choose the Location from the drop-down menu.

  9. Enter your staff budget for each day.

  10. Once complete, select Save.

  11. Click on Overview to view the week’s total.

  12. This also displays the total location budgets for the group.

  13. Click on Roster.

  14. The Budget total in the column to the left shows the dollar and percentage difference between your rostered shifts and the budget.

  15. The amount next to Previous Week displays this comparison.

  16. Green figures indicate you are under budget. Red figures mean you are over budget.

  17. Edit staff shifts to reduce rostered hours in line with the budget.

  18. To edit a shift, click on the corresponding cell.

  19. Change rostered times or delete shifts.

  20. Continue to alter the roster until all daily figures are green.
