Supplier Guide: Promotions

Product based rewards when Customers hit a certain basket total

Written by Matt Henton

What are promotions?

Promotions allow you to offer rewards to customers when they spend a certain amount with you.

Using Promotions, you are able to offer physical rewards to your customers in the form of Products. These can be one or more products that you have in Sellar, which can be either free or discounted. These are offered to all Customers.

Here’s a simple example:

  • Spend £500 and get 1x Pale Ale • 30L Sankey Keg for £40

  • Spend £700 and get 1x Pale Ale • 30L Sankey Keg for free

The promotion and rewards will be displayed at the top of your product list on your storefront.

Looking to offer money off by spend rather than rewards? You can add discounts to your Price Lists.

How do they work?

What are the ins and outs of Promotions?

  • Active promotions are available to all customers who visit your storefronts

  • Spend thresholds apply to the basket subtotal; exclusive of VAT or any delivery charges

  • Any existing volume discounts will continue to apply as normal

  • You can offer hidden products as a reward should you wish to only make it available via your promotion, and not available via general sale

  • You can offer multiple rewards across multiple promotions at any given time. However, we recommend having one clear promotion running at any one time.

How do I create them?

Creating Promotions is done in two steps. Creating and assigning

1. Create your promotion

  • Head to Pricing and select the Promotions tab

  • Select ‘+ New’ to create your promotion:

    • Name: Your promotion's name will be shown to customers on your storefront and at checkout

    • Start date: When you want this promotion to come into effect

    • End date: When you want this promotion to end

    • Reward rule: You can choose between letting qualifying customers choose just one reward, or as many as you have listed

    • Activate this promotion: Toggle this on before the start date so your promotion will appear on your storefront automatically on that day.

2. Assign rewards

  • Select ‘+ New’ to add the rewards you want customers who qualify for this promotion to choose from

  • Search for a product: Use this field to find the product you wish to offer as a reward

  • Spend threshold: This is the amount your customer has to spend to qualify for this reward

  • Quantity: This is how many of this reward qualifying customers will receive

  • Price: This is how much your reward will cost. If you want qualifying customers to get the reward for free, enter '0' into this field
