Have questions? You’re not alone. Here are the answers to the things we get asked most often.
How do transfer times work?
How do transfer times work?
Transfer speed depends on which accounts are involved:
Sequence → Sequence (Pods or Income Sources) → instant.
Sequence → External → same-day ACH.
External → Sequence → 2–3 business days to clear.
Direct Liabilities (Sequence sends money straight to your provider) → 2–7 days, depending on the provider’s processing time.
Staged Liabilities (money is staged in a Pod, provider pulls it out) → funds arrive instantly from Sequence accounts or in 2–3 days from external accounts, then wait for the provider’s pull schedule.
So, transfers inside Sequence are nearly instant, but external transfers require the extra clearing time banks and providers take.
What type of transfer counts toward my transfer amount limits?
What type of transfer counts toward my transfer amount limits?
Only external transfers count. That means when money moves between Sequence and accounts outside of it, either into Sequence or out to your bank/provider.
Example: Moving money from Wells Fargo → credit card = 1 transfer.
Example: Moving money from Wells Fargo → 4 Pods = 4 transfers, because each destination is counted separately.
Transfers inside Sequence don’t count toward your monthly limit — so moving money from Pod → Pod, or from an Income Source → Pod, is unlimited.
Can I cancel a transfer?
Can I cancel a transfer?
It depends on timing. Once a transfer is started, the window to stop it is very small.
Sequence → Sequence transfers are instant and can’t be cancelled.
External transfers may still be pending, but banks move quickly. If you need to cancel, email support@getsequence.io immediately with the details. Our team will check the transfer’s status and see if there’s a chance to stop it.
We’ll always do our best, but cancellation is never guaranteed.
How do I know where my money is during a transfer?
How do I know where my money is during a transfer?
You can track transfers in real time through the Activity Log.
Look for any transfer marked as Pending, then click into it.
You’ll see the ETA for finalization, the current stage (like “in clearing” or “awaiting provider”), and if a transfer fails or is cancelled, the reason will also be listed.
This way, you’re not left wondering - you can see exactly where your money is in the process.
I’ve sent funds to a liability account a few days ago and they still haven’t arrived
I’ve sent funds to a liability account a few days ago and they still haven’t arrived
Don’t worry, this usually comes down to the type of liability account:
Direct Liabilities: Sequence sends your funds straight to the provider, but providers can take 2–7 days to fully post payments on their side. It’s common for the money to leave Sequence but not show up in your provider’s portal right away.
Staged Liabilities: Funds first move into a Sequence Pod (instantly if coming from a Sequence account, or in 2–3 days if pulled from an external account). After that, your provider pulls the money out according to their schedule. That final step is entirely dependent on the provider’s timing.
So, if you don’t see your payment reflected, it’s most likely still being processed by your provider - the money is either staged or already on its way.
What happens if I hit my transfer amount limit?
What happens if I hit my transfer amount limit?
Each plan has a set number of external transfers allowed per month (10 for Starter, 25 for Pro, 100 for Growth, 200 for Premium).
When you’re close, Sequence will send you an email warning so you’re not caught off guard.
If you go over, you’ll get another email confirming it. From there, transfers will still process, but each one above the limit will carry a small fixed fee based on your subscription plan.
What’s the easiest way to test if my rules are working?
What’s the easiest way to test if my rules are working?
The best tool is a Rule Simulation.
Inside any rule panel, click the beaker icon on the top to open the simulation tool.
From there, you can test different scenarios (like an incoming paycheck or a specific account balance) and watch how your rules, triggers, and conditions would run, all without moving real money.
It’s the safest way to confirm your automation is behaving exactly as you intended before it goes live.
Can I run a rule once without the trigger?
Can I run a rule once without the trigger?
Yes! Sometimes you don’t want to wait for the trigger. In those cases, you can use Run Rule Now. This option is in the rule’s settings panel.
It immediately runs the rule with your current balances. It’s especially handy if a rule failed earlier due to insufficient funds, but you’ve since topped up your account and want it to try again.
Can I send Wire Transfers with Sequence?

How do I make a one-time transfer?
How do I make a one-time transfer?
There are two ways to do it:
Hover over the account you want to move money from, drag from the + button to your destination account, and choose One-Time Transfer.
Or click the One-Time Transfer button in the top right corner of the screen, fill in your source and destination, and confirm.
Both options give you a quick, no-strings way to move money when you need to.
