Setting up a company bank account for dividend payments (NZ)

To pay dividends from Sharesies Private, you first need to add your company’s bank account. This is the account funds will be paid from.

Companies can opt to store bank account numbers for their shareholders in Sharesies Private's fully secure portal. This may make bank payments easier as the dividend distribution figures can be exported by shareholder in a spreadsheet with the bank account number.

To pay dividends from Sharesies Private, you first need to add your company’s bank account. This is the account funds will be paid from.

Add a company bank account

  • Go to Dividends

  • Select Manage bank accounts

  • Click Add bank account (top right)

Enter bank account details

In the pop-up:

  • Currency → defaults to NZD

  • File format → select your bank (e.g. ANZ, ASB)

  • Account number → enter your NZ bank account

We have provided the option of standardised (Australia / New Zealand) or custom formatting of the bank account field.

Then click Confirm

What this is used for

This account is:

  • A source account used to pay dividends

  • Used when generating bank payment files

  • Required before completing dividend distributions

Supported banks

Currently supported:

  • ANZ

  • ASB

(Each uses a specific file format for payment files)

Troubleshooting errors

If you see errors when entering your account:

  • Invalid NZ bank number: bank or branch are invalid

    • Check the first 6 digits (bank + branch)

  • Invalid NZ bank number: failed CDV

    • The account failed validation (check digit issue)

    • Re-check the full number

Manage existing accounts

  • View all accounts under Manage bank accounts

  • Delete an account using the trash icon
