How tax residency works (AU)

Tax residency determines how withholding tax is applied:

  • Australian residents

    • Withholding tax may apply depending on TFN status

  • Non-residents

    • Withholding tax applies (typically on unfranked dividends)

Important things to know

  • Dividend details are used to calculate tax and process payments

  • Keeping this information up to date helps avoid payment delays or incorrect tax treatment

  • You can update shareholder details at any time
