πΉ How should Trial Lessons work?
Since students are paying for a Trial Lesson, it's important that you take the lead and have a clear structure.
Trial Lessons are sold to students as a way to meet you and get an idea of what your teaching style is like, before committing to full sessions.
The content will vary based on the learner's English level, but we recommend this general structure:
Introduce yourself and outline your qualifications & experience
Ask some questions to learn about the student
Ask the student's goals (if possible)
Do a small amount of teaching if possible - to show the student what an example lesson would look like. This will likely be included in the above sections naturally though!
We've added Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced templates for you to use during EFL Trial Lessons, which feature both introductory content as well as teaching exercises. These templates will be uploaded automatically to any confirmed Trial Lessons according to the user's reported proficiency.
Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the content of the uploaded template before the Trial Lesson takes place.
You can also select a template for Trial Lessons using the 'Prepare' button on your Bookings page if you wish to use your own content.
π³ How does payment work for Trial Lessons?
Students pay for Trial Lessons upfront (i.e. when requesting them) and will have the option to be charged in their native currency or GBP when they are paying for their Trial Lesson.
You'll always be paid out in GBP.
Students will be charged in GBP for full lessons.
To start with, Trial Lessons will be paid out to you monthly outside of Stripe Connect, and as a result will not be listed on your Payments page. Once the EFL platform is out of Beta, you'll be paid as normal through your Stripe Connect account in line with our twice-monthly payment schedule and you'll be able to see this from your Payments page.
