Image optimization with Smart SEO
To access the image optimization feature, go to the Image Optimization tab in Smart SEO. You should see this dashboard:
In the image optimization dashboard, you will find information on:
The before/after file size of all the images you have already optimized
The total saved size through optimizing your images
Average savings in file size in percents
The number of optimized images
The remaining quota for image optimization
Our app uses the Tinypng API to provide you with a convenient and quick way to optimize our images. Tinypng is the best image optimization software out there in terms of file size compression and preserving the quality of the images at the same time
Even though the Tinypng API is a paid service, we provide 50 image optimizations per month even on the free plan, so our customers can see the benefit of optimizing their images. The amount of image optimization quota for each plan is the following:
Free - 50 images per month
Pro - 1000 images per month
Business - 3000 images per month
Premium - 5000 images per month
If you subscribe to the 7-day free trial for one of our premium plans, the full amount of quota for the image optimization feature will be released either if the 7-day free trial expires and you get charged for the plan in question or if you skip the free trial by going to our Plans page and subscribe to the paid plan directly
Single image optimization
The images are grouped into 4 sections - Product images, Collection images, Articles images and Files (theme-related images).
To optimize a single image for one of your products, go to Image Optimization -> Products. You will see a list of all your products and all the images for each product. Next to each image, you will see an Optimize button:
Click the Optimize button next to the image to optimize it, then wait for a couple of seconds:
Once the image is optimized, you will see a Complete label next to it, the size reduction in percent and also a Restore button:
If for some reason, you wish to revert the optimization for the optimized image, click the Restore button and the original image will be restored.
The usual reason you might want to restore an image is if there is an issue with the quality of the image. However, such cases are very rare.
Bulk image optimization
With the Bulk image optimization feature, you may select multiple products and optimize all their images at once.
You can either select the products whose images you wish to optimize manually or you can click the checkbox at the top to select all the products on this page (you may click the Select all XX+ products in your store button if you wish to select all the product images in your store):
Then, click the Optimize product images button above to start the bulk image optimization task for the selected images. You will see a progress bar:
Note that the task runs in the background, so you can browse other pages while it's running
Whether an image has been optimized in bulk or as a single image, the backup of the original image can be restored for 30 days after the image has been optimized, before the original image is deleted.
Optimization History
Under the Optimization History tab, you will find detailed information on each image optimization (single or bulk). Also, you will find a button that will allow you to restore the image/s for that particular optimization task:
