Upsell Pairing Removal

Upsell helps increase Average Order Value (AOV) by recommending relevant add-on products during cart or checkout, nudging customers to discover and purchase more. In some cases, brands prefer to sell certain products only when a specific base product is present in the cart. To support this, Upsell allows for dependent removal - ensuring that the upsell item is automatically removed if its corresponding base product is deleted.

Use Case

A brand may offer an add-on or complementary product that makes sense only when purchased together with another item.

Example:

  • Product A (e.g., Shampoo) is added to the cart.

  • Product B (e.g., Conditioner) is shown as an upsell at a discounted price.

  • If the customer removes Product A from the cart, Product B should also be automatically removed.

Why It’s Useful

  • Maintains logical product combinations (e.g., bundles or “buy with” offers).

  • Prevents upsell items from being purchased independently when they’re intended to be add-ons.

  • Creates a cleaner, more consistent checkout experience for customers.

How to achieve this?

  1. Head to the Upsell section on the Shopflo Dashboard

  2. Click on "Configure"

  3. Toggle "Remove added upsell items on removal of linked cart items" to turn it on and save the config

Once enabled, Upsell automatically ensures that only valid product pairings remain in the cart and that any pricing or promotional logic tied to the base product is preserved.
