Not every promotion needs to apply to your entire store. A product-specific discount lets you run targeted offers on individual items, a curated selection, or a whole collection - without touching the rest of your catalog. It applies automatically at checkout when a qualifying product is in the cart, so customers get the saving without needing a code.
What is a Product-Specific Discount?
A product-specific discount in Shopflo is a discount that applies only when a customer adds a designated product or collection to their cart. You choose the products it covers, the percentage off, an optional savings cap, and who is eligible. Once set up, it runs silently in the background - no customer action required.
When to Use This
Product-specific discounts are a good fit when you want to:
Highlight a new product line or seasonal collection with a time-limited offer
Clear slow-moving inventory by making specific SKUs more appealing
Reward customers for purchasing a particular product without discounting everything else
Run a campaign tied to specific products rather than cart-level spend
How to Set Up a Discount on Specific Products
Step 1: From your Shopflo dashboard, click Create Discount and select Discount on Specific Product as the discount type.
Step 2: Select Automatic Discount. This ensures the discount applies instantly when a qualifying product is added to the cart - no code entry needed from the customer.
Step 3: Enter a name for your discount that makes it easy to identify - for example, "Summer Collection 10% Off".
Step 4: Set the discount percentage - for example, 10% off the product price.
Step 5: For margin safety, set a maximum savings cap - for example, Rs. 300 - so the discount never exceeds that amount per product, regardless of its price.
Step 6: Select the products this discount applies to. You can choose individual products, multiple SKUs, or an entire collection. Click Add once your selection is complete.
Step 7: Define eligibility. Choose whether the discount is available to all customers or a specific segment - for example, first-time buyers or repeat purchasers.
Step 8: Set the total usage limit across all customers - enter a number to cap the overall redemptions, or leave it unlimited for an open-ended promotion. Usually it should be limited to the number of items in the catalog of the type of product (s) you are keeping this discount for.
Step 9: Set the per-customer usage limit to control how many times a single shopper can claim the discount.
Step 10: Set the per-order limit - for example, once per order - to prevent the discount from stacking if a customer adds multiple qualifying items.
Step 11: Select the sales channels where this discount will be active - Web, Mobile, or both.
Step 12: Set the campaign start and end dates. For a time-limited promotion, choose specific dates. For an ongoing discount, leave the end date blank.
Step 13: Click Save and review the preview to confirm the discount looks correct before it goes live.
Step 14: Once everything looks right, click Save as Draft or activate it directly. Eligible shoppers will see the discount applied automatically at checkout when they add a qualifying product.
Tips for Product-Specific Discounts
Use collections rather than individual products when you want to cover an entire category - it is easier to maintain as you add or remove SKUs.
Add a savings cap alongside a percentage off to keep costs predictable on higher-priced items.
Promote the discounted products using callout cards or dynamic banners so customers know the deal exists before they reach checkout.
Combine with a campaign end date to create urgency and drive faster decisions
