itsme Qualified Electronic Signature

You have received a sign request and are asked to verify with itsme. What now?

Updated over 2 months ago

When a document needs to be signed following the most secure requirements, a sender can choose to require a qualified electronic signature (QES). At Signhost, we use itsme as one of the providers for qualified electronic signatures. There are a few steps you need to take in order to successfully verify and sign.

Create your itsme account

In order to use itsme, you must first download the app in the App Store, Google Play or Huawei App Gallery. Then, you must connect your ID data to your itsme account. You only have to do this once.

This can be done in different ways:

  • For Dutch nationals of 16 years and older:

    With your ID card or passport (with NFC). Start in your itsme app and follow the steps.

  • For Belgian nationals of 16 years and older:

    Via itsme partner banks: Belfius, BNP Paribas Fortis, ING, KBC. Start in your itsme app and choose your bank.

  • For Belgian nationals 18 years and older (for qualified signing):

    Via the itsme website using your eID and your eID card reader.

Verify using itsme with Evidos Signing

Note: it is important to complete the itsme signing process in one go. The process should not be interrupted and started again, this may lead to unsuccessful signing. Make sure you have a stable internet connection when you start the process!

  • First click the sign invitation link in the email to open the document(s) in your browser;

  • After you've read the document(s) press the button 'Next';

  • (Optional) If the sender requires your signature, you will be asked to add your signature and press the button 'Verify';

  • The window below will open and ask to enter your phone number. Make sure you have registered your itsme account with the same phone number as you provide here.

  • After entering your phone number, a sign request will be sent to your itsme app. In your browser, a screen like the image below will appear.

  • Open your itsme app and tap the card at the bottom of your screen.

Recently we changed to a new product name: Signhost. The itsme app is (for now) still using our old product name: Evidos.

  • Navigate through the steps confirming that you want to sign. After successfully completing the steps in the itsme app, you will be taken back to the home screen in the itsme app.

Once you have completed the steps in the itsme app, your browser will automatically move on to the next step in the Signhost signing process, completing the signing process.

Our support team is happy to assist you via chat or via support@signhost.com
