A multi-zone HVAC system can be monitored with a single Hub. The number of sensors required depends on the home's specific configuration.
Each Hub supports up to 8 wireless sensors
Comfort Sensors
You'll need one Comfort Sensor for each floor or zone that has its own thermostat.
Examples:
A two-story home with a thermostat on each floor requires 2 Comfort Sensors
A single-story home with separate zones for living area and bedrooms requires 2 Comfort Sensors (one per zone)
A three-zone system with three thermostats requires 3 Comfort Sensors
Each Comfort Sensor should be installed near the thermostat for that zone to accurately monitor temperature and humidity.
Filter Sensors
Filter Sensor requirements depend on the air filter configuration.
Individual Zone Filters
If each zone has its own separate air filter, you'll need one Filter Sensor per zone with an air filter.
Examples:
A two-zone system with separate return vents and filters for each zone requires 2 Filter Sensors
A three-zone system where each zone has its own filter requires 3 Filter Sensors
Common In-System Filter
If the HVAC unit uses a single shared filter that serves all zones, you'll only need 1 Filter Sensor regardless of how many zones the system has.
Example:
A three-zone system with one central return air filter requires only 1 Filter Sensor
Total Sensor Count
Each Hub supports up to 8 wireless sensor devices total, including the sensors that come with the Hardware Kit.
Example Configurations
Two-zone home with individual filters:
2 Comfort Sensors
2 Filter Sensors
1 Water Sensor (standard)
Total: 5 sensors
Three-zone home with common filter:
3 Comfort Sensors
1 Filter Sensor
1 Water Sensor (standard)
Total: 5 sensors
Four-zone home with individual filters:
4 Comfort Sensors
4 Filter Sensors
Total: 8 sensors (maximum capacity)
If you need more than 8 sensors total, you may need to add a second Hardware Kit with an additional Hub.
