The Pro App guides you through onboarding step by step.

Before You Start

Start an Onboard

  1. Log in to your Pro App and tap Add Member

  2. Confirm the plan your member has signed up for

The steps differ based on plan type:

  • Connect plans collect member and home information only

  • Detect plans include hardware installation (go to)

Connect Plans

Enter Member and Home Information

  1. Enter member's name, phone, and email

  2. Add the service address

  3. Add home details: number of HVAC units, thermostat zones, filters, and stories

Add HVAC Unit Details

  1. Select system type (Split System, Packaged Unit, or Furnace Only)

  2. Select indoor unit location (Attic, Basement, Closet, Garage, or custom)

Add Thermostat Zones

  1. Choose which zones the thermostat controls (Upstairs, Downstairs, Entire House, etc.)

  2. Select which HVAC unit the thermostat controls

Add Filters

  1. For each filter, enter size, location, and last change date

Complete Onboard

  1. Review all information

Detect Plans

Enter Member Information

Enter member's name, phone, email, and service address.

Add Home Layout

Enter the number of stories, number of thermostats/zones, and decade house was built.

Choose System Type

Select the system type (Split System, Packaged Unit, or Furnace Only). This affects sensor placement steps later.

Complete Risk Profile

Answer questions about the HVAC system to establish a baseline. Approximate if unsure:

  • Maintenance frequency

  • Year HVAC was installed

  • Most recent service visit

  • Thermostat type

Configure Zones

Choose which zones each thermostat controls (Upstairs, Downstairs, Entire House, or custom).

Capture Condenser Nameplate

  1. Head to the outdoor condenser

  2. Take a clear, well-lit photo of the nameplate

If the nameplate is worn or inaccessible, you can enter equipment details manually.

Place and Activate Hub

  1. Position the Hub in a location that is as close to central as possible between the air handler (water sensor location), the return vent, and the supply register where you plan to place the other sensors. Make sure you are within WiFi range.

  2. Plug in and scan the QR code on the bottom of the Hub

Connect to Internet

Connect the Hub to WiFi. The Hub light should be solid blue when connected.

Install Sensors

Water Sensor (Split Systems): Place in the condensate drain pan where water would collect first.

Note: Packaged Systems do not have a drain pan at the indoor unit. Skip this step and use the Water Sensor for additional leak monitoring (water heater, washing machine, etc.) in the Add Additional Sensors step.

Filter Sensor: Place behind the air filter at the return air vent.

Comfort Sensor: Place at or near a supply register.

Final Verification

Wait for the app to confirm all sensors are online.

If any sensor shows offline, check placement and battery connection.

Add Additional Sensors in Zone

Add extra sensors if needed (additional water sensors, filter sensors). The Hub supports up to 8 sensors.

Set Up Additional Zones

For homes with multiple HVAC units, repeat the process for each zone.

Complete Onboard

  1. Remind the member the Hub must stay plugged in

  2. Help them download the SmartAC.com Member App and create their account
