Overview

The Share Your Audio step allows you to select your preferred audio input device and confirm that the microphone is functioning properly. Audio sharing is a key component of exam security and voice communication for Live Proctoring sessions.

In this article, you will learn:

  • How to Share Your Audio

  • What Hardware Restrictions Exist

  • Troubleshooting

How to Share Your Audio

  1. Select your preferred microphone from the dropdown menu.

  2. Click Share Audio.

  3. If prompted, speak into your microphone so SmarterProctoring can confirm functionality.

Hardware Restrictions

To ensure exam integrity, microphones built into headphones or earbuds are not permitted during remote proctoring sessions. Test-takers should select a built-in or external microphone that is not part of a headset or pair of earbuds.

Troubleshooting

If you're having trouble connecting your audio, the following tips may help:

  • Look for a physical mute switch on your external microphone or keyboard.

  • Check your system settings to confirm that your microphone is enabled and not muted.

  • Try a different microphone to identify and eliminate a potential hardware fault.
