During onboarding, the Speaker Check verifies that your system’s audio output is working correctly. Functional audio output is essential for the proctoring experience.
In Automated Proctoring and Automated Proctoring with Review sessions, some exam content may include audio.
Live Proctoring sessions require you to hear the live proctor during check-in and have voice communication throughout the session.

Accessibility Note:
If you have a documented disability that prevents you from hearing, a text chat option is available during Live Proctoring sessions. Please ensure your accommodations are approved and communicated in advance so appropriate support can be provided during your exam.
How to complete the Speaker Check
Click the button labelled Play Code.
A 4-digit verification code will be presented through your speakers. Enter it in the text field provided.
Click Continue

If you have a documented disability that prevents you from hearing, follow the steps provided below
Click the button labelled Can't Hear the Code?
Click Yes when prompted with the question Are you hearing impaired?
Confirm by clicking Yes, opt out.
Troubleshooting
If you are unable to hear the verification code, follow the steps below to verify your system audio output settings.
Make sure the System Volume is turned up
Ensure the system volume is not muted and is set loud enough for you to hear.
If you are using external speakers, make sure they are plugged in and turned up loud enough for you to hear.
Confirm the correct System Audio Output is selected.
Windows
Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
Under Output, make sure the correct device (e.g., speakers or headphones) is selected.
If needed, click Test to verify sound output.
macOS
Click the Apple menu and choose System Settings (or System Preferences).
Go to Sound > Output.
Select your preferred audio device and ensure it is not muted.
Chrome OS
Click the time in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
Click the arrow next to the volume slider.
Under Audio Output, select the correct device from the list.
