Each home (or unit) needs to be imported in order for site teams to use the Units feature in SmartRent. The CSV file (.csv) import feature allows you to easily add multiple units and make large scale changes. Before importing any unit information, you must have a Property Code set up. If you need to have your Property Code created, follow the directions in our How Do I Adjust Community Settings in SmartRent? article here.
Uploading a CSV:
Once you have a Property Code, you can upload units for each community in the form of a CSV file into SmartRent. This will automatically import all units into our database. To upload a CSV of your units in SmartRent, complete the following steps:
Click Settings in the top bar menu
Click Imports in the left sidebar menu
Navigate to Import Data section
Click Download Units Template
Complete each field in the CSV document for all units and save as .csv file
Click Choose File under Select Units CSV
Select the desired .csv file from your computer
Click the Import button on the right
Review the Import Results that generate beneath the Import Data section
“Created”: The unit/property was created successfully
“Errors”: An error prevented a unit/property from benign created/uploaded
In the event of an error, double-check that each required input variable in the CSV document is correct and has the correct data type
Confirm a Property Code was created and input correctly in the CSV
“Ignored”: Did not create a unit for an existing region/market
“Updated”: An existing unit/property was updated
Home details such as sq. ft., number of rooms, and enabling Tours are not updated through the CSV import. These details must be input and turned on manually in SmartRent.
