Before smart home devices can be added, a SmartRent Hub must be assigned to the home. This is done by linking a specific home or unit with the hub’s unique serial number. The association between the home and hub is what allows you to manage and monitor devices paired to that hub remotely.
To ensure accuracy, confirm that the serial number added into SmartRent Manager belongs to the hub that is physically installed in the home.
Assigning a Hub to a Home:
To assign a hub to a home, follow these steps in SmartRent Manager Web:
Click on the desired community
Click Units in the left sidebar menu
Click on the home to which the hub will be assigned
Click Hub in the left sidebar menu
Click into the Hub Serial Number text field and type the hub’s serial number (found on a sticker on the side of the hub)
Hubs are pre-assigned to the community before installation so the serial number should auto-populate as you type it
If the hub’s serial number is not populating, reach out to our support team using the details listed below
Click on the populated serial number to add the hub to the home
Assigning a Hub with Paired Devices:
If the hub you are assigning to a unit already has devices paired to it, you will need to complete a few additional steps after the hub is added in SmartRent Manager Web:
Assign the hub using the steps above
Click the Details expanding menu
Click Discover Devices
The page will refresh pulling in the devices paired to the hub
Rename each device
Click Save and Continue
Click Complete Installation
Unassigning a Hub from a Home:
If a hub becomes unresponsive or is moved from its current home, it will need to be unassigned from that home. Unassigning the hub is permission-based, so if you do not have the ability to delete the hub, reach out to your organization admin or contact our support team using the details listed below. To unassign a hub, follow these steps in SmartRent Manager:
