May 6, 2020 (1.57.0)
Community Manager - Web

NEW FEATURES

Lockless Configuration: We’ve added a method from the group level that will enable lockless move in if a property does not have PIN-based smart locks. This configuration is disabled by default and can be changed on the group settings page with proper permissions.

Lockless move-ins provide residents with the ability to access units without needing the traditional access code system that is used today. This new feature will aid in the ability to support other lock and credential types on the unit doors such as Bluetooth.

SmartRent supports many communities that use non-Z-Wave locks, and this new feature will allow properties to utilize SmartRent’s other devices and software while allowing residents to move-in/move-out of a unit with no locks. Enabling this setting at the group level will still allow Z-Wave PIN-based locks to be added to units within that property, but allows for lockless support on any and all units that do not (ie. self-guided tour kits with a hub and PIN-based lock can still be installed on model units for touring).

Enabling this feature will do the following:

  1. The move-in lock requirement is turned off

  2. Access code notifications will not be sent to residents

  3. Move-in and move-out require no access codes

  4. Staff cannot send or resend backup codes or work order access codes

  5. No tour access codes can be given for that unit

  6. Users will not see the unit level access tab

Property Battery Thresholds: To reduce the frequency of work orders being created, organization admins can reduce the low battery threshold for devices. The default percentage is 30 percent. Within property settings (navigate to ‘Devices’) there is a row listed for each type of device and the ability to select a corresponding battery threshold percentage. When a corresponding device hits the low battery threshold a work order is automatically created for that device.

Unique Lock Instructions Update: Previously, resident “welcome” emails and expiring links pages used the Yale YRD256 lock as an instruction example, however, not all properties use this specific lock type and model. We’ve updated our instructions and added new graphics to show how to use the type of lock that is installed on the specific unit. Today, we support additional custom lock graphics for YRD226, NTB645, YRD210 and YRD216.

Customized Organization Email Templates: To provide a more customized user experience and to allow clients to reinforce individual brands, we now allow organizations to customize email templates. We provide the ability for an organization to have a specific HTML email template and subject line for all emails. When a corresponding email is sent and a custom template is provided, we send the organization’s version, otherwise we default back to SmartRent’s template. To set up a customized template, organizations will need to reach out to their respective Account Managers.

Show Linked SmartRent Account on Resident Card: Property staff can now see which SmartRent User Login the moved-in resident of a unit is using (which may differ in some cases from the resident email record). Property staff will see how many moved-in resident accounts are tied to that SmartRent account. The goal of this is to help clear up the confusion between resident and user login records. Additionally, the property staff can now help residents troubleshoot when they cannot login via the app.

IMPROVEMENTS

Added Webhook Events: Users can now subscribe to contact sensor events through our recently-launched (v1.55.0) webhooks feature.

Refactored Navigation: For improved user workflow and navigation, we’ve fixed instances of redirects leading to the URL.

Access Tab Permission Improvements: We’ve improved and reimplemented our access permissions. When a user does not have proper access permissions they will not be able to view the Access Tab for vacant units.

Rename All Instances of “Emergency Codes” Language: To ensure consistency across platforms, we’ve updated all areas that still used the verbiage “Emergency Code” and replaced it with “Backup Code.”

Improved Lock Inclusion Workflow: We’ve made improvements to our lock installation workflow to include error messages for the user if automatic device inclusion cannot move past the device attribute steps.

Security System Changes: When the security system is enabled for residents within Community Manager, the checkbox is now disabled since this action cannot be undone.

FIXED

Remove Blank Timezone Option: We’ve removed the blank option for timezone during unit creation.

Remove Work Orders for Deleted Units: On the property overview page we no longer display any maintenance requests for deleted units.

Fixed Work Order Email Links: We added a fix to the “view work order” button in system-generated emails regarding maintenance updates.

Multiple Timestamp Fixes: We’ve made various fixes to our timestamps to properly correspond to the date/time associated with a property’s timezone.

Always Adding Vacant Access Codes When a Unit is Vacant: We added a fix that ensures that when a unit is in a vacant status and has no moved-in residents, the vacant access codes will be added to the unit.

Stop Crashing When Devices are Configured: We have fixed a bug which was preventing some new devices from successfully pairing on the first attempt.
