SmartRent Release Notes - August 08, 2019 (1.44.0)
New Features
Introducing Community Manager - Web: Control Room has been renamed to Community Manager - Web. With our soon-to-be-released mobile application, we’ve renamed Control Room to be more clear and descriptive.
Organization Battery Reports: We’ve added a new daily report for battery level for devices. This report includes the property, device, device type, battery level, etc. It can be enabled in organization reports.
Single Sign-on for Okta-Enabled Organizations: The biggest update in this release is how users sign in to Community Manager - Web portal. This new feature will be enabled on an organization basis, so although the functionality for this is live, the rollout for users to sign in with Okta credentials will happen over the next few weeks.
When this feature is enabled for your organization, you can expect the sign-in process to be broken up into two steps:
The user will supply their email address.
2. If we detect that the user belongs to an organization that has enabled single sign-on via Okta, we will redirect them to Okta to complete their sign-in process. Once completed in Okta, users will automatically be redirected back to Community Manager - Web and be logged in. If they do not belong to a single sign-on organization, they will be prompted to input their password.
Single Sign-On User Creation: New user records will automatically be created for Organizations that have single sign-on enabled. New users will log in to SmartRent with their email address and be redirected to Okta to complete the sign-in process. Then they will be returned back to SmartRent. If we do not have a user record with the corresponding email address, we will automatically create one and then prompt them to contact their Organization admin to be assigned a role and properties.
After Hours Staff Access Alerts: We’ve made improvements to our after-hours email and SMS alert to include staff access events with the property manager backup code, vacant staff code or work order access code. Doing so will enable teams to better monitor staff unit access after the close of business hours.
Organization Role Page Improvements: We’ve made some changes to the Roles page to add matching permission logic. For instance, if you want a role to create a resident record, then we also automatically select ‘view’ permission, as that is required.
User Page Improvements: We’ve added sortable and filterable column headers to the organization and property user table to make it easy to find and edit existing users.
Backup Code Usage Report: We’ve added property name and unit name to the existing Emergency Code Usage report.
Access Code Formatting: We’ve updated the way we show access codes to include a space for readability. Four (4)-digit codes will have no space, six (6)-digit codes will have three digits then space, and eight (8)-digit codes will have four digits then a space.
Hub Deleted Reason: When a user is deleting a hub, they will be required to input a reason. This will help gather feedback related to the hubs and their health.
Track Who Made Work Order: We now track and display who created a work order or whether or not the work order was created via automation or the sync. The creator of the work order will be displayed on the work order detail page in Community Manager - Web.
New Resident Permissions: We’ve added new permissions to the ‘Resident’ type to enable sending backup codes and resending resident codes. Roles which shouldn’t have access to perform these actions can now be updated on the organization's roles page.
