How to link your Fidelity accounts to SMArtX

Overview

This guide explains how to link Fidelity custodial accounts to SMArtX so:

  • Account data flows into the SMArtX platform

  • Trading permissions are enabled

Fidelity linking typically involves:

  1. Authorizing SMArtX as a Separate Account Manager (SAN)

  2. Adding or updating the SMArtX G# on accounts

  3. Confirming the account is transmitting to SMArtX



⚠️Important⚠️

Account linking must be completed directly with Fidelity.

SMArtX cannot initiate or manage this process.

If you need your SMArtX G# or SAM Product G#, refer to your onboarding email or request them from Client Services.

Before You Begin

Ensure the following:

  • Client accounts are opened at Fidelity

  • You have a list of accounts to link

  • You know your Fidelity service contact

If accounts are not yet open, contact your Fidelity representative.



Fidelity IWS Account Linking Process

Step 1 — Check if the Account is SAN Enabled

Determine whether the account is already part of the Separate Account Network (SAN).

If the Account IS SAN Enabled

The client does not need to sign a new addendum.

You only need to update the Secondary G# in the Separate Account Manager Change Request form


If the Account IS NOT SAN Enabled

The account must be enrolled in SAN.

The client must sign the Separately Managed Account Addendum.


Step 2 — Update G# on an Existing SAN Account

Complete & Submit Separate Account Manager Change Request via Service Request

In Fidelity Wealthscape:

  1. Go to Menu → Initiate Service Request

  2. Enter the Account Number

  3. Under Account Management:

    • Select > Account Features & Maintenance → G# Maintenance / Pricing Code

  4. Under Service Request Details:

    • Request Type dropdown G# Maintenance

    • Under Secondary G# Add or Replace add the following:

      • SMArtX G#
        (found in your SMArtX onboarding information)

Complete the remaining fields and submit the request.


Step 3 — Enable SAN for the Account

If the account is not SAN enabled, complete the Separately Managed Account Addendum.

In Fidelity Wealthscape:

  1. Go to Menu → Service

  2. Select Forms & Reference

  3. Open the Forms Library

  4. Search for: Separately Managed Account Addendum

  5. Under Section 2 — Separate Account Information

    • Enter the following:

      • SAM Name: SMArtX Advisory Solutions

      • SAM Product Name: SMARTX UMA/TAMP

      • Fidelity Account Number

      • SAM Product G#: (found in your SMArtX onboarding information)

Complete the rest of the form and submit it to your Fidelity service team.


Step 4 — Confirm Account Linking

Once Fidelity processes the request:

  • Verify that SMArtX appears in the account’s Interested Parties section.

Location in Wealthscape:

  • Account Profile → Interested Parties

This confirms the account is transmitting to SMArtX.

⚠️ If SMArtX is not listed, the G# was not applied.



What Happens Next

Once linking is complete:

  • Fidelity begins transmitting account data to SMArtX

  • SMArtX confirms when accounts appear in the platform

  • Accounts are reviewed and prepared for trading and rebalancing


Troubleshooting

Accounts may not appear in SMArtX if:

  • The SMArtX G# was not added

  • Required SAN paperwork was not submitted

  • Fidelity has not completed processing

Only accounts with the SMArtX G# attached will transmit.
