Step 1 β Confirm or Establish a TAMP FA Master

If not already enabled:
If a TAMP FA Master does not exist:
Ask Schwab to create a new FA Master approved for TAMP business.
During setup, confirm:
Asset-based or transaction-based pricing
Margin approval
Options approval (Level 3 recommended)
Note: Client accounts using SMArtX will ultimately be linked to this TAMP FA Master.
Step 2 β Link Client Accounts to the TAMP FA Master
Work with your Schwab Service Team to:
Identify accounts that will use SMArtX
Link those accounts to the TAMP FA Master
This allows accounts to feed correctly for trading and data transmission.
Step 3 β Complete the Managed Account Marketplace LPOA
Each client must complete the Managed Account Marketplace Money Manager Limited Power of Attorney (LPOA).
Advisor actions:
Provide the LPOA form to the client for signature
Submit the completed paperwork to Schwab via:
Schwab Service Center, or
DocuSign
When completing the LPOA:
In Section 3 β Advisor, TAMP and Manager Authorizations
Select Trading Authorization only
Step 4 β Confirm the Account Connection
After submitting the LPOA, monitor the Alert Center in Schwab Advisor Center for approval.
Once approved, verify the connection:
Open the client account
Navigate to: Account Menu β Associated Items β Master Accounts
Confirm SMArtX appears in the list.
This confirms the account is connected and transmitting to SMArtX.
β οΈIf SMArtX does not appear under Master Accounts:
Contact your Schwab Service Team ask them to verify:
The LPOA was processed
The account is linked to the TAMP FA Master
What Happens Next
