Single Touch Payroll (STP) is the Australian Tax Office's system for reporting payroll information.

What is STP?

STP requires employers to report payroll information to the ATO each time they pay their employees.

SmoothPay submits STP reports automatically when you process pays.

What information is reported

STP reports include:

  • Employee details

  • Gross earnings

  • PAYE deducted

  • Superannuation contributions

  • Other relevant employment information

STP reporting in SmoothPay

When you process pays in SmoothPay:

  1. Complete the pay process as normal.

  2. SmoothPay generates the employment information in the correct format.

  3. The filing is submitted to the ATO automatically.

  4. You'll receive confirmation via email.

  5. Check the confirmation for any errors or warnings.
