How to Program Your Remote to Control Your TV (BuzzTV / Softbox)
This guide will walk you through how to program your BuzzTV/Softbox remote so it can control your TV’s power, volume, and input functions. It also includes a workaround if your TV cannot be detected automatically and instructions for enabling the remote backlight.
1. Open the BuzzTV Smart Remote App
From the home screen, go to All Apps on the left side of the menu.
Scroll until you find BuzzTV Smart Remote.
Select the app to open it.
2. Use Auto TV Setup
Inside the BuzzTV Smart Remote app:
At the top of the screen, select Auto TV Setup.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
If Setup Is Successful
The system will confirm that your TV was detected.
Complete each step as instructed to finish pairing.
If Setup Fails
You will receive a message saying the remote could not connect to your TV.
If this happens, use the workaround below to control volume directly through the Softbox device.
3. Workaround: Control Volume Through the Softbox (If TV Pairing Fails)
If the remote cannot control your TV's volume or power, you can adjust volume using the Softbox instead.
Steps:
Go back to the home screen and open Settings.
On the right side, select Softbox Utilities.
Scroll down and choose Volume Control.
Turn Volume Control OFF (the switch will no longer be blue).
When this option is off:
The volume buttons on the left side of your remote (Volume Up/Down) will control the Softbox volume directly.
Your TV volume must be set high (about 75–100%) so that the Softbox can correctly increase or decrease sound.
Recommended Setup:
Set your TV volume fairly high.
Set the Softbox volume to about ¾ of the scale.
Use your Softbox remote to raise or lower sound as needed.
This method works well if your TV cannot be programmed through the Auto Setup tool.
4. Optional: Turn On the Remote Backlight
If you want your remote keys to light up when you press a button:
Go back to All Apps.
Open the BuzzTV Smart Remote app.
Scroll down and select Turn Backlight On.
When it says Turn Backlight Off, it means the backlight is currently ON.
Now, pressing any button on the remote will light up the keys for easier visibility in dark rooms.
