If you're here, it's probably because you've been confronted with one of these two scenarios. đ But what exactly does this mean and what are the next steps?
Not enough information at the beginning
There is a distinction between ânot availableâ and âbelow 1000" when it comes to audience size on platforms like Meta (Facebook). Hereâs a breakdown:
âNot Availableâ: When you see ânot availableâ for the audience size, it typically means that the audience size is below a certain threshold, and the platform doesnât disclose the exact number for privacy reasons. This could be because the audience is very small, and revealing the size might potentially identify individuals.
âBelow 1000â: If the platform provides a specific number such as âbelow 1000,â it means that the audience size is less than 1000 users. In this case, the platform is willing to disclose that the audience is small but doesnât specify the exact number for similar privacy reasons.
In both cases, youâre dealing with a small audience size, and creating a lookalike audience might be challenging (but possible) due to the limited data available. However, the specific wording provides a bit more information about the size range. âBelow 1000" gives you a rough idea that the audience is indeed small, but it doesnât reveal the precise number.
Why?
This minimum requirement is to protect the privacy of audience members. Which is, in itself, a very good thing! đ”ïž

There are several reasons why your custom audience may be too small on Meta Business Manager. Here are a few possibilities:
Limited data: Custom audiences are created based on data such as website visits, engagement with your business page, and interactions with your ads. If you don't have much data yet, your audience size may be small.
Narrow targeting: If you have created a custom audience with very specific targeting parameters, such as people who have visited a specific page on your website or people who have engaged with a particular post, your audience size may be small. Narrow targeting can be effective for reaching a specific group of people, but it can also limit the size of your audience.
Low engagement: If your business page on Meta has low engagement, such as few likes, comments, or shares, it may be more difficult to build a large custom audience. Custom audiences are created based on engagement with your business, so if you are not getting much engagement, your audience size may be limited.
Limited reach: If your business has a very niche or specific audience, it may be more difficult to build a large custom audience on Meta. This can be especially true if your business is new or if you are trying to reach a very specific group of people.
What can be done?
The first solution is to be patient âł In general, it's a good idea to keep building your custom audience over time and try to get more traffic and engagement in order to build a meaningful audience for SOPRISM profiling.
If you don't have the luxury of waiting and want results, you can always perform a Lookalike audience or a Saved Audiences created on the basis of relevant criteria. This method will require some resources as not all criteria are specifically available on Meta but you can get very good profiling results.
