Seeing a location error on Splash? Work through these steps in order — most issues are resolved by step 3.
1. Turn Off Your VPN
VPNs mask your real location and are not permitted on Splash Sports. Disconnect completely and try again. This is the most common cause of location errors.
2. Enable Location Services
Splash needs access to your device's location to verify eligibility.
iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Splash Sports → While Using the App + enable Precise Location. See full iPhone guide.
Android: Settings → Apps → Splash Sports → Permissions → Location → Allow while using app
Desktop (Chrome): Click the lock icon in the address bar → Site settings → Location → Allow
3. Disable Ad Blockers
Ad blockers can interfere with location detection. Temporarily disable any browser extensions or ad-blocking apps and try again. If this fixes it, add splashsports.com as an exception.
4. Switch Networks
Corporate Wi-Fi, university networks, and some secured networks route traffic through servers in other states. Switch to your mobile data connection or a home Wi-Fi network.
5. Update Your App or Browser
iOS: App Store → Search "Splash Sports" → Update if available
Android: Google Play → Search "Splash Sports" → Update if available
Browser: Chrome Menu → Help → About Google Chrome (auto-updates)
6. Try a Different Device or Browser
If all else fails, try logging in from a different device. Google Chrome offers the best compatibility with Splash Sports on desktop.
Am I in a Restricted State?
If you're physically located in a state where real-money contests aren't permitted, you won't be able to enter paid contests regardless of your settings. Check the Splash eligibility map to confirm your state's availability.
Entertainment-only (self-managed) contests are available in all 50 states — location restrictions apply only to real-money contests.
Still stuck after trying all of the above? Email support@splashsports.com with your account email and a description of the error — we'll investigate.
