Location Verification Failed — Why Can't I Access Splash From My Location?

Why Splash Sports checks your location, what to do if you get a location error in an eligible state, and how travel to restricted states affects your account.

Seeing an "Invalid Location" or location verification error on Splash Sports? Here's what's happening and how to fix it.


Why Splash Checks Your Location

Splash is a licensed real-money gaming platform legally required to verify that users are physically located in a state or province where real-money contests are permitted. Location checks happen at login and when entering paid contests.


Am I in a Restricted State?

If you're physically in a state where real-money contests aren't available, you won't be able to deposit or enter paid contests while there. Check the Splash eligibility map to confirm your state.

Entertainment-only (self-managed) contests are available in all 50 states and Canada — location restrictions only apply to real-money contests.


I'm in an Eligible State But Still Getting an Error

Work through these steps in order:

  1. Turn off your VPN completely — VPNs make it appear you're in a different location and are not permitted on Splash. Pausing isn't enough; disconnect entirely.

  2. Enable location services — Splash needs access to your device's location to verify eligibility:

    • iPhone app: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Splash Sports → While Using the App + enable Precise Location. See full iPhone guide.

    • Android: Settings → Apps → Splash Sports → Permissions → Location → Allow while using app

    • Desktop Chrome: Click the lock icon in the address bar → Site settings → Location → Allow. See full Windows guide.

  3. Switch networks — corporate Wi-Fi, university networks, and some secured Wi-Fi networks route traffic through servers in other states. Try mobile data or home Wi-Fi.

  4. Disable ad blockers — ad blocking extensions can interfere with location detection.

  5. Try a different browser or device — Google Chrome is recommended for best compatibility.


I'm Traveling — Does That Affect My Account?

Yes. If you travel to a restricted state or province, you won't be able to enter new paid contests while you're there. Your existing entries, account balance, and contest history are unaffected. Access to paid contests restores automatically once you return to an eligible location.
