What’s the difference between “Splash Collecting Entry Fee” vs. “Self-Managed”?
Great question! Here's a breakdown:
Let Splash Collect Entry Fee:
✅ We collect entry fees from your members
✅ We handle all payouts
✅ You earn Commissioner Rewards – get paid to run contests!
✅ No chasing payments or tracking down users
✅ A service fee of 10% of the prize payout applies, ensuring participant verification and seamless transactions
Self-Managed:
⚠️ You’re responsible for collecting entry fees outside the platform
⚠️ You’re also in charge of payouts
⚠️ A tiered fee structure applies based on your contest size
To assist commissioners, Splash provides a Survivor Pricing Calculator that helps estimate costs based on the number of entrants.
⚠️ No commissioner rewards
Letting Splash handle it is easier, faster, and way less stressful! 💸
Is it easy to run a contest on Splash Sports?
Absolutely! 🙌 We’ve designed the process to be super simple.
Just enter your contest name, payout structure, and preferred settings — we’ll take care of the rest!
Can I edit my contest once it’s created?
Yes! After creating your contest, head to Commissioner Tab > Active > Manage > Settings to update:
Contest title & description
Contest size
Advanced settings
Make it your own!
Where is Splash Sports legal to play?
You can check out our legal play map here 👉 Splash Sports Map
This will show where we are licensed and ready to go!
What happens if I choose a Self-Managed contest?
Commissioners taking on self-managed contests are responsible for ensuring legal compliance in their jurisdiction, actively choosing appropriate pool management options, and transparently managing all payments and entries outside of the Splash platform.
Here’s what to expect:
You will not receive commissioner rewards
You must handle all payment collection and payouts outside Splash
There is a site fee to run a self-managed contest
You will miss out on the convenience and automation of Splash-managed contests
We always recommend using Splash Collect Entry Fee for a smoother experience!
How can I send invites to my members?
Easy! Once your contest is created, go to Commissioner Tab > Active > Manage > Invites Manager:
From there, you can invite:
Via invite link (just copy & paste)
By email
From your followers or groups
Or by selecting past pools from RunYourPool or OfficeFootballPool
You’ve got options!
How can I communicate with my contest members?
You’ve got a few options:
📧 Email Functionality (Two Ways):
Send directly from Splash:
Go to Manage Entrants
Choose to email all entrants or just those who haven’t locked in picks for the week
Download email list:
Export a CSV with participant emails and message them through your preferred email client
📢 Commissioner Posts (Message Board):
Post updates directly inside your contest. Members can react (👍❤️), but not reply. Everyone gets notified via push/email when you post.
💬 Chat on Web (Coming Soon!):
Live chat is currently available in the app — but we’re bringing it to the web soon too!

What can I do with entrant management?
Tons of helpful updates here! 🙌 You’re in full control! 🎮
Pause or remove specific entries (great if someone paid for 3 entries but made 4) (Self-Managed only)
Sort, search, and filter the entrants list
See the time each user joined your contest
Edit or make picks for a member if needed (Self-Managed only)
Revive a specific entry in survivor contests — just like a buyback! (Self-Managed only)
📝 Note: Most actions will be logged in an “activity log” that’s visible to all members to ensure transparency and fairness.
Will there be platform fees for self-managed contests?
Additional Costs for Squares Grids:
A hosting fee of $12.95 applies to create a Squares grid on Splash.
Yes – platform fees apply for Self-Managed contests on Splash, with the payment due after the season starts. The fee structure is tiered based on the size of your contest, and here’s what to expect:
The payment process is streamlined as a link becomes available in your "Manage Contest" section once the season starts, enabling easy direct payments within the app.
Commissioners will have 1–3 weeks to pay the platform fee
If unpaid, the contest may be frozen
What are my responsibilities as a commissioner of a self-managed contest?
A commissioner is tasked with ensuring fair management of contest entries and payouts, complying with local laws, and handling logistical tasks independently. Self-managed contests are viewed as entertainment-only games and are not regulated by Splash.
