How to Make Picks in NHL Player Survivor

How to submit picks in an NHL Player Survivor contest — what to pick, how alternates work, scoring rules, and pick deadlines.

Updated yesterday

Here's everything you need to know about making picks in an NHL Player Survivor contest on Splash Sports.

What You're Picking

Each slate, you submit:

  • 1 Primary player — the player you're counting on to record a point

  • 1 Alternate player — a backup used only if your primary's game doesn't count

Both players must be from different teams.

How to Submit Your Picks

  1. Go to My Contests → Active

  2. Click into your NHL Player Survivor contest

  3. Click Make Picks

  4. Select your primary player from the available player list

  5. Select your alternate player (from a different team)

  6. Click Submit before the deadline

Picks can be updated any time before the deadline — just return to the pick screen and make your changes, then resubmit.

What Counts as a Point?

Your primary player must record at least 1 point (goal or assist) during their game in regulation or overtime to advance. Shootout points do not count.

When Is Your Alternate Used?

Your alternate replaces your primary only if:

  • Your primary player's game is postponed or cancelled

  • Your primary player does not dress for the game (scratched from the lineup)

The alternate is not used simply because your primary player didn't get a point — that results in elimination.

Pick Deadlines

Pick deadlines are set per slate and lock when the first game of the slate begins. Always check the deadline shown at the top of your pick screen — picks cannot be changed once they lock, even if other games in the slate haven't started yet.

What Happens If You Miss the Deadline?

If you don't submit picks before the deadline, your entry is automatically eliminated. No exceptions can be made after the deadline passes. Set a reminder or submit early to avoid this.
