Pick timing is one of the most important things to stay on top of in NHL Player Survivor. Here's how deadlines work and what to watch out for.
When Do Picks Lock?
Picks lock at the start of the first game of each slate — not at your specific player's game time. This means if the slate starts with an early game at 7:00 PM ET and your player's game isn't until 10:00 PM ET, your picks still lock at 7:00 PM ET.
Always submit before the first game of the slate begins, regardless of when your chosen player's game starts.
NHL Slate Schedule
NHL games are typically played on a daily basis throughout the regular season (October through April). Slate windows and pick deadlines vary by the contest configuration set by the commissioner — some contests run on a daily slate schedule, others may be configured weekly.
Check your specific contest's pick screen for the exact deadline for each upcoming slate.
Commissioners: How to Adjust the Pick Deadline
If the pick deadline needs to be changed for an upcoming slate:
Go to Commissioner tab → Active → Manage → Contest Settings
Go to Advanced Settings
Update the pick deadline
Save your changes
⚠️ Changes to the pick deadline take effect for the following slate — you cannot change the deadline for a slate that is already in progress.
Tips for Members
Submit picks early — don't wait until right before the deadline in case of technical issues
Check the deadline shown on your pick screen — it reflects the actual lock time for the current slate
Monitor lineup news — players can be scratched close to game time; a safer pick submitted early beats a riskier pick submitted late
Refresh after submitting — confirm your picks saved correctly before the deadline
