Advanced Parental Controls Setup

This guide will help you activate Advanced Parental Controls (beta) with Spriggy Mobile.

Updated over a week ago

Setting up Advanced Parental Controls from Spriggy Mobile should only take a few minutes. We will need to perform the following:

  1. Activate Advanced Parental Controls on your kid's device via their Spriggy app.

  2. Confirm that the Advanced Parental Controls are active from your parent Spriggy app.

  3. Test the Advanced Parental Controls are working.

Let's get the Advanced Parental Controls set up on your kid's device.

Setting up APC on my kid's Android device

Perform these next steps on your kid's device, not yours:

  1. Download the latest Spriggy App to the Child’s device.

  2. Open the Spriggy App and tap on the 'Mobile' tab at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Copy the DNS setting link, which should look something like: e7fef4.dns.nextdns.io

  4. Now, navigate to 'Settings' > 'Network & Internet Settings' > 'Private DNS' on your kid's device.

    1. This may seem tricky if you have not done it before, and Android devices offer a range of experiences. If you have any trouble, locate the 'Settings' app on the device, and there should be a search option. Here, enter 'Private DNS' and it should take you to where you need to be.

  5. Paste the DNS Server value you copied earlier and tap to complete.

  6. Return to the Spriggy app and tap the 'Mobile' tab.

    1. If everything was set up correctly, you should now see a green icon and 'Verified'.

  7. Lastly, let's test that everything is working by attempting to navigate to a betting website such as tab.com.au. This should show as blocked.

On your device:

  1. Navigate to your child.

  2. Tap 'Parental Controls'.

    1. These should show a green status button. At present, you can not turn this off once activated.
