With Pay Ahead, you can purchase prepaid vouchers for a range of participating brands directly in the SQUID app - and earn Wave Points just for buying them! 🛍️
🎟️ How it works
Prepaid Voucher partners are marked with the pink Prepaid Voucher badge🎟️ in the app. When you buy a voucher for one of these partners, you earn Wave Points instantly - before you've even spent it. It works just like any normal gift card: if you don't spend the full amount in one purchase, the remaining balance carries over for next time. And if your total comes to more than the balance on the voucher, you can simply pay the difference with another card, just as you would with any other gift card.
📱 How to buy a voucher
Open the SQUID app, navigate to the Wave section, go to Earn Points or scroll down to Pay Ahead.
Select Prepaid Vouchers to browse all available brands, or find one under View Nearby Offers
Choose the brand you'd like — for example, Tesco, Aldi, Ticketmaster, or SuperValu
Select the voucher amount and complete your purchase
Your Wave Points are credited to your balance immediately, and the voucher is sent to your email and also placed in the Vouchers tab of your wallet in the SQUID app.
🛒 How to spend your voucher
In-store vouchers
Go to Wallet → Vouchers in the SQUID app
Tap on the voucher you want to use
A barcode will appear on screen. If the barcode isn't showing, tap the View Balance button
Show the barcode to staff to be scanned at checkout
Online vouchers
After purchasing, you'll receive a gift card via email
Use this digital gift card code at the online checkout when shopping with that brand.
📍 Where can I use my voucher?
Vouchers can be in-store only, online only, or valid for both, depending on the brand. Before you buy, check the voucher's usage type by clicking on the store in the Prepaid Vouchers section of the app - if it's restricted to in-store or online only, this will be shown in a yellow notice below the Select Voucher Amount option and above the instructions. If there's no yellow notice, the voucher can be used both in-store and online.
📅 Checking your voucher's expiry date
Expiry dates can vary by brand. To check when your specific voucher expires, go to Wallet → Vouchers in the app and tap on the voucher to see its details.
💰 Checking your remaining balance
To see how much is left on a voucher, go to Wallet → Vouchers in the app and tap on the voucher. If you can't see the balance, tap the View Balance button.
🔧 Troubleshooting
If your Wave Points haven't appeared after buying a voucher, they should be credited instantly - if it's been longer than a few minutes, let us know the brand and purchase date and we'll look into it.
If you're having trouble finding a specific brand, check both Prepaid Vouchers and View Nearby Offers, as availability can vary by location.
