How to Troubleshoot and Manage Stamp Scanning Issues in the SQUID App
The SQUID app allows users to collect stamps at participating venues using NFC technology. This guide provides solutions for common issues and tips for managing your stamps effectively.
Collecting Stamps
To collect a stamp:
Open the SQUID app on your phone.
Ensure NFC (Near Field Communication) is enabled in your phone settings. NFC is the same technology used by services like Google Pay and is typically enabled by default on Android devices. On iPhones, you may need to reset the NFC reader if it doesn’t work (see troubleshooting below).
Tap the middle of your phone against the SQUID tag at the venue. The stamp should add automatically.
Troubleshooting NFC Issues
If you encounter problems while collecting stamps:
On iPhones: Restart your phone to reset the NFC reader. After restarting, open the SQUID app and tap the “Tap tag” button to prompt the NFC reader.
General Tips: Ensure the SQUID app is open and NFC is enabled. Tap your phone directly on the SQUID tag. If the issue persists, update the app to the latest version from your device’s app store.
Syncing Offline Stamps
If stamps collected offline don’t appear in your account:
Open the SQUID app.
Go to the Wallet section.
Return to the main screen to refresh the app. This should trigger pending offline stamps to sync once you’re online.
Claiming Missing Stamps
If a stamp doesn’t register despite following the steps above, you can request a manual addition:
Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt or a screenshot of your payment (e.g., Apple Pay transaction).
Managing Multiple Purchases
Each tap awards one stamp. If you buy multiple eligible items, you must tap the SQUID tag once for each item to receive multiple stamps.
Account Recovery
If your stamps or vouchers disappear:
Log out of the SQUID app from the Account section.
Sign back in using the "Continue with Apple" option associated with your account. This restores access to your previously saved stamps and vouchers.
Business Portal Features
For businesses, you can view stamp activity in the SQUID business portal:
Open the Dashboard section to see counts of stamps issued and customer activity.
Additional Notes
Stamps are not issued for alcohol purchases.
Two nearby locations can share the same account, allowing customers to collect and redeem stamps at either site.
By following these steps and tips, you can ensure a smooth experience with the SQUID app and resolve common issues effectively.
