Whether a game couldn't find it's player base, or the GM simply forgot to delete it, there are sometimes games that show up in the Find Games page, that the GM is no longer planning on running.
These abandoned games clog up the search and make it more difficult for players to find the games that you are actually planning to run.
To help ensure that every game in the search is being actively recruited for, old games will "Expire" from the search when no longer active.
When Do Adventures Expire?
When an Adventure is set to Expire, it will be tagged as Expiring Soon on the Listings page.
Adventures are only given this status when they meet ALL of the criteria below ⬇️
There are no players signed up for the game
The game is currently in the "Pending" status
The game was created or renewed more than 42 days ago
If you have players signed up or the game has been moved to Active, your game will not be moved into this status. The only time a game is moved into the Expiring Soon status is when it meets ALL of the criteria.
When one of your Adventures enters this status, you will receive a notification through the site saying "Your Adventure is going to expire". You will also receive an email notification.
Once you have received this notification, you have 7 days until the Adventure expires, unless a player signs up for the game.
How To Renew An Adventure
While an Adventure is in the Expiring Soon status, the Set to Active button on the Adventure, will be replaced with a Renew Adventure button.
When clicking the Renew Adventure button, you will be prompted to confirm the action. After clicking the Renew button, the 42 day timer for this game will be reset.
If you do not Renew the Adventure within those 7 days, the adventure will Expire, deleting it from your account.
What To Do If Your Adventure Expired
The vast majority of the time if an Adventure Expires, you do not need to do anything. These Expired Adventures are most likely Adventures that were not actively looking for players, or you will be looking to try something new in that time slot.
If you missed the emails and notifications, and your Adventure has Expired when you did not want it to, you are always able to make a new Adventure using the same Template and put it back into the same time slot.
