With the introduction of Game Status, you will see your Campaigns and One-Shots in one of two states on your Listings page: Active or Pending.
What is Active?
An Active game is an Adventure on StartPlaying with enough players to run.
When your game says Active, that means:
You have reached the minimum number of players to run your game.
The minimum number of players is something a GM sets when they create the Adventure.
β
You have gone to your Adventure, clicked the blue Start Adventure button, and confirmed your game's schedule.
βYou can schedule sessions of your game.
βYour players will be charged at session time. The game's listing will display a green "X Seat(s) Left" indicator to show how many seats are still available.
π Important Note: One-Shots will automatically become active once the minimum player count is met.
What is Pending?
A Pending game is an Adventure on StartPlaying that does not enough players yet to start the game.
When your game says Pending, that means:
You have not reached the minimum players to run your game.
The minimum number of players is something a GM sets when they create the Adventure.
You may have hit the minimum number of players, but you have not clicked the blue Start Adventure button.
You cannot schedule sessions of your game
Your players will not be charged until the game is set to Active. The game's listing will display a blue "X Needed To Start" indicator, denoting how many additional players are required.
Pending games are visible on the calendar only for the current month and do not carry over into future months unless they transition into Active status.
Game Masters are capped to 20 pending listings on their account at a time. To better manage pending slots, you can remove outdated listings, activate games that meet requirements, or optimize underperforming listings to create space for new opportunities.

What does Active vs. Pending look like to a Player?
On the Find Games page, players are able to browse for both Active and Pending games, but it will look a little different for them π
β
βActive games will show:
The remaining number of seats available (in green)
The game's schedule
The game's next session
The price per session
The number of seats filled
β
Pending games will show:
The number of people needed to start (in blue)
The game's schedule
The price per session
The number of seats filled
When players filter for Active and Pending games on StartPlaying, they will instead be filtered as New and Ongoing.
New is for Pending, because the game has not officially begun yet.
Ongoing is for Active, because the game is ready to start or has already started.
How do I change a game from Pending to Active?
Follow the steps in this FAQ page to change your game from Pending to Active.
Optimizing Pending Game Management
To effectively manage your pending games and improve scheduling:
Remove outdated listings: Delete games that are no longer relevant to free up space.
Activate games: Transition games to active status once they meet the necessary player count.
Optimize existing listings: Update or revise details for listings that are not gaining traction to make them more appealing to players.
