Can I delete my StartPlaying account?
Yes. You can request that your StartPlaying account be permanently deleted by contacting our Support team. Account deletion is handled by our team. There is no self-service delete button in your account settings.
What gets deleted?
When your account is deleted, the following are removed:
Your profile and all profile information
Your game listings and Game Templates (if you're a GM)
Your messages and chat history on the platform
Your reviews (both written and received)
What is NOT deleted?
For legal and financial compliance reasons, the following are retained even after deletion:
Transaction records: payment history, charges, and refunds are kept for accounting and dispute purposes
Payout records: if you're a GM, your earnings history is retained
Moderation records: if your account had strikes or violations on file, those records are retained internally
Is deletion permanent?
Yes. Account deletion is irreversible. Once your account is deleted, we cannot restore it, recover your listings, reviews, or messages, or reactivate your profile. If you think you might want to return to StartPlaying in the future, consider deactivating your listings instead of deleting your account entirely.
⚠️ If you're a GM with upcoming scheduled sessions or players currently in a campaign, please cancel or conclude those before requesting deletion. Deleting your account while active sessions exist may affect your players.
How long does deletion take?
Once your request is submitted and verified, account deletion will occur immediately.
How do I request deletion?
Contact us through the chat button on this page or email support@startplayinggames.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request." Please include:
Your account email address
Any feedback for the team about why you are deleting your account
Our team will verify your identity and process the request during business hours, Monday–Friday 9AM–6PM EST.
I just want to take a break. Do I need to delete my account?
No! You don't have to delete your account to step away. As a GM, you can set your listings to Draft so they're not visible to players. As a player, you can simply stop booking sessions — your account will remain inactive until you return. Reach out to our team if you need help setting your account to inactive.
