Show different Sternify content on different products

Understand shared templates and create a separate layout when product pages need independent content.

Written by Alex

If editing a Sternify heading or image changes several product pages, those products may share one template. Create a separate template when a product needs independent content or layout.

Check what the products share

Compare each product’s saved Theme template. Manually entered section text and images belong to that template.

For example, two products can show different product titles but the same FAQ you typed into a section. The title comes from the product; that FAQ belongs to the shared template.

1. Create a separate copy

  1. Open the theme editor and choose Products → Create template in the page selector.

  2. Enter a unique Name.

  3. Under Based on, choose the template you want to copy.

  4. Click Create template, customize the new copy, and save.

2. Assign and test it

  1. Open the intended product in Shopify admin.

  2. Select the new template in Theme template and save.

  3. Check that product’s storefront page, then check a product that should still use the original.

You’re done when: each product uses the intended template and changing one template’s content does not change the other’s settings.

What remains shared?

Separate templates can still use the same Sternify section code. Updating that section can change its behavior wherever it is used in the theme. This differs from editing one template’s headings or images.

A field that supports a dynamic source can also use product-specific data. Availability depends on the particular field and theme.
