The Tipping Act came into effect on 1st October 2024. This means:
Businesses must pass on all tips, gratuities, and service charges to their workers without any deductions, including Stinters.
Tips will be distributed fairly based on the hours worked by each eligible employee.
Businesses must have a clear tipping policy and keep accurate records.
The amount of tips you are eligible for during your Stints is at a business' discretion, so please ask ask the manager about their tipping policy at the start of your Stint, and do not take tips without double checking.
If you have earned any tips during your Stints, the business will notify us of the amount. This will then be reflected on your normal weekly Stint payslip.
If the business has confirmed it is fine for you to take tips during your Stint, you are more than welcome to do so - it means that you have been doing a good job!
