How to configure delivery with sunday?

Find out how to configure delivery with sunday: delivery method, opening hours, time slots, fees, zones, menus and ordering link.

With sunday, you can offer your customers the option to order directly from your establishment, without going through third-party ordering platforms such as Deliveroo or Uber Eats, and have their order delivered to the address of their choice.

Your customers can access your establishment's delivery link from your website, social media, Google Business Profile or a QR code. Depending on your setup, deliveries can be handled by Uber Direct, your own fleet of drivers or a hybrid setup.

How does it work?

  1. The customer places an order using a link available on your establishment's website, Google Food Ordering, a QR code or the sunday guest app.

  2. They choose a delivery address and pay online.

  3. The order is sent to your establishment and routed to your kitchen through the integration with your point-of-sale system.

  4. Your team prepares and packages the order.

  5. The driver picks up the order from your establishment.

  6. The order is delivered to the address provided.

With Uber Direct, a courier is automatically assigned when the integration is active. With an in-house fleet, your establishment manages driver assignment.

Please note: sunday Delivery is currently available only with Zelty in France.

Availability may vary depending on your setup. Other integrations are currently being developed. Please contact sunday Support to check the options available for your establishment.

The aim is to enable your establishment to:

  • create its own ordering and delivery channel;

  • avoid marketplace commissions, which are generally between 20% and 35%;

  • retain control of its brand, prices and customer relationships;

  • access customer data and order history;

  • manage orders, delivery and reporting from the sunday dashboard.

Choose your delivery method

Uber Direct

Uber Direct is a courier delivery service that is separate from the Uber Eats marketplace. Your establishment keeps its own ordering link, brand, menu and control over its customer relationships. Uber Direct acts only as a logistics provider to handle the delivery.

The delivery time and cost shown to the customer are estimated based on the delivery settings and applicable conditions.

Your own fleet

You can also manage deliveries using your own drivers. In this case, your establishment is responsible for assigning and tracking drivers and handing the order over to the driver.

Hybrid setup

A hybrid setup is possible. You can switch between Uber Direct and an in-house fleet depending on the services and your team's availability.

Configure delivery

1. Activate the service

Delivery is activated by the sunday team when your account is set up.

Once the service is activated, you can configure its opening hours, time slots, fees and zones from your dashboard, under:

Service Management → Take out → Delivery

2. Set opening hours and time slots

From the dashboard, open:

Service Management → Take out→ Delivery

Add the time ranges during which your customers can place orders. You can use different opening hours for different days.

Service Management → Takeaway → Delivery → Service configurations

3. Configure fees and zones

Depending on your setup, you can define how delivery fees are shared between the customer and your establishment:

By percentage: your establishment covers part of the fees calculated by Uber Direct, and the customer pays the remainder; By zone: the customer pays the fixed rate configured for their zone. If this rate is lower than the actual delivery cost, your establishment covers the difference.

  • By percentage: your establishment covers part of the fees calculated by Uber Direct, and the customer pays the remainder;

  • By zone: the customer pays the fixed rate configured for their zone. If this rate is lower than the actual delivery cost, your establishment covers the difference.

You can edit the fees under :
Service Management → Takeaway → Delivery → Delivery zones.

For each zone, you can enter:

  • its name;

  • the delivery fee;

  • the minimum order amount;

  • the estimated delivery time.

You can create a circular or polygonal zone. Both shapes can coexist. An existing zone cannot be converted from one shape to the other. The minimum order amount is a business rule defined by your establishment.

4. Check the pickup address

The pickup address is the location where the driver collects the order. It is different from the customer's delivery address.

It must be accurate and match the address configured with your provider when a provider is used.

5. Adapt your menu

You can associate one or more menus with your delivery service. The menu offered online can be different from your in-store menu.

Service Management → Takeaway → Delivery → Menu(s).

For delivery, make sure that your dishes:

  • travel well;

  • remain high-quality after a few minutes;

  • are packaged properly;

  • can be prepared within the expected time.

From your dashboard, open Service Management → Takeaway → Delivery → Service configurations. Enable Allow order comments to let your customers add a comment to their order, for example an access code or delivery instruction.

Depending on your point-of-sale system, you can also enable Allow item-level order notes to let your customers add a note to a product. This feature is available only if your point-of-sale system supports it.

General comments and item-level notes can be enabled from the service configurations.

Service settings

From Service Management → Takeaway → Delivery → Service configurations, you can configure order scheduling:

  • the hours during which your customers can place orders;

  • different hours for different days;

  • the ordering window in days;

  • the maximum number of orders per time slot;

  • the preparation time, in minutes;

  • how long before the scheduled time the order is sent to the point-of-sale system or kitchen;

  • temporarily pausing the service, depending on your setup.

When the maximum number of orders is reached for a time slot, the customer is directed to the next available time slot.

Publish your ordering link

Your delivery link is available in your dashboard, under:

Service Management → Takeaway → Delivery

You can then share this delivery link on your website, Google Business Profile, social media or include it in a QR code.

If you manage several establishments, a store locator may be considered depending on your project and setup. Contact sunday Support to check the options available.

Before putting the service online

Place a test order to check:

  • how the menu is displayed;

  • the opening hours and time slots offered;

  • the fees displayed to the customer;

  • that the order is routed to the point-of-sale system or kitchen;

  • order preparation and pickup by the driver;

  • driver assignment;

  • the information displayed to the customer.
