Tips Management at sunday

As a restaurant manager or director, you have a key role in managing tips and redistributing them among your team. With our tip management tool, the whole process is fully automated by Sunday. Depending on the choice you make, you can decide whether the tips collected will be allocated directly to the waiters or shared between several teams via a common pot.

First mandatory step:


You have three options for tip distribution:

1. 100% Tips for Head Waiters

In this fully automated system, head waiters collect tips throughout the week and receive the total amount directly in their banking accounts the following Monday. The manager or director does not need to intervene in the distribution process, ensuring simple and efficient tip management.

2. 100% Tipjar

When tips are managed via a Tipjar, all amounts collected during the week are grouped and distributed among the staff members based on the distribution rules set by the manager or director.

  • Availability: The Tipjar distribution is available every Monday at 6 PM under the Distribution section of the Tips tab.

How It Works:

  • Servers collect tips throughout the week.

  • The following Monday, the manager or director can allocate the tips among the team.

Distribution Methods:

  1. Based on the number of hours worked by each staff member.

  2. Based on a fixed amount per employee.

Once the tips are distributed, servers receive their share directly in their banking accounts the following Monday.

Important Notes:

  • Managers can perform the distribution at any time between Monday and Sunday. All tips allocated during this period will be paid to employees the following Monday.

  • If the distribution is delayed to the next week, servers will receive their tips with a two-week delay, i.e., on Monday of the second week (S+2).

3. Split tips between Head Waiters and Tipjar

In this setup, a portion of the tips is allocated directly to head waiters, while the remaining amount is added to the Tipjar. The manager or director determines the percentage of tips allocated to head waiters and the percentage distributed to other staff, such as kitchen or bar teams.

  • Head Waiters: Collect their tips and receive their share directly in their banking accounts every Monday.

  • Tipjar: Distributed on Monday and received in the banking accounts of other staff members the following Monday.
