We are super excited to unveil the new case creation experience for all of our customers. We listened to feedback from you all, and have implemented changes to make the experience overall more streamlined, less confusing to new users, and incorporate some of our new design aesthetic. All customers will see this new change on September 15, 2025.
Creating Cases in Supio
All new cases will begin using the case create UI immediately. Creating cases still originates from the same place in the main Supio view, so you will not need to train users to look for a new entry point.
Case Details & Assign Case Team
Upon clicking Create Case you will notice some immediate changes to how the information is surfaced. The case creation experience has been reimagined as a wizard with discrete steps, so that each part of the process is clear and managed in a dedicated page.
This is where you will enter basic information about the case such as the name, and who the case team is. To learn more about the case team feature, you can visit this article: https://intercom.help/supio/en/articles/11803151-case-team-assignments
If you are using a connector to get data into the system, you will have the same ability to enter the external case id and the connector will pull the case name and case type from the integrated system.
Define Case Stage and Case Type
Once the name and team has been established, step 2 of the wizard will capture a bit more information to understand what kind of case you are creating as well as its current stage. You will be asked to indicate whether the case has entered litigation or not. This new input will allow us to better serve you features which are relevant to the stage of your case.
You will still select the case type, as well as answer a few questions about what you are looking to get from this Supio case. If you want to generate a medical chronology, you can respond yes to that question, otherwise we will assume you want to use the case to chat against your files only and not include the timeline.
You will notice that as you make selections on the left side of the screen, the case builder details on the right continues to fill out information so that you don’t lose the context from the previous steps in the user flow.
You will also be able to know what types of Supio functionality by looking at the features included tab. Note that explorer, also known as deep dive, is always available on any case.
If you request a medical chronology included in your case, you will also be prompted on whether you want to include a human-verified demand letter. For supported case types you will also be able to request a human-reviewed demand later. If you have purchased Case Economics, we will see an option to exclude this from your case if desired.
Uploading Files
Like the current case create flow, the experience will differ slightly based on whether you are using a connector to upload files. We have preserved all options for connectors, and if your firm has one set up, you will see a toggle to choose whether you want files to come from the connector or from your local files. You can always change your selection.
Selecting files or dragging and dropping them from your desktop or file system is still supported, but with some improvements to the overall experience. You will now be warned when files exceed the file size or file number limit, and be given actions to remove the files from UI before being able to proceed with file upload.
We’ve added a set of instructions embedded in the UI to remind you of the file limits, as well as what the supported and non-supported file types are for document extraction and upload.
Once file upload is confirmed, the case will be created and file transfer begins.
When file upload is initiated, you will see a progress bar within the case create form pop up. You can choose to follow along with the upload, however one of the big changes we have made to the overall experience is that you are now able to move off the uploading modal and continue working within Supio. No more needing to stay and ensure the files get uploaded.
As files are uploading, any failures will be shown in real-time in the upload modal, with buttons to retry them. Any files which failed to upload will be clearly shown to you so that you can either correct the problem or better understand why the upload fail.
We have also implemented a new footer that appears on the case landing page where you can also see file uploads in process. If you choose to exit out of the upload modal, you can always return to the case and see the footer until the file transfer is complete. With this new feature, it is possible to upload multiple cases at the same time without having to wait for any particular case to finish.
When there are any file uploads in progress, a new widget will appear in the top right of the screen reminding you that there are active transfers going on. Since we do need you to keep the browser tab open while uploading from your computer, you will be warned if you try to close the browser tab so we can ensure that there are no interruptions to your file upload.
New Case Update Experience
Like case creation, the update case experience has gotten an update as well. You can still update your cases at any time after it has been created with the Update button located at the top bar of your case.
At the top of the page is the file upload workspace, where you can use a connector or add your files manually to the case whenever you want to upload new files. File upload is always visible within the screen to make it easy to quickly new files into the system.
Underneath file upload are 3 possible additional sections which allow you to do the following:
Update the Case Team and Case details
Add a verified demand letter
Add details for the demand letter.
Each of these sections is collapsable if it is not relevant to the workflow you are completing. Note that requesting a verified demand letter without filling out the demand information form.
