Important Update: Email Notifications Are Now ON by Default ✉️
Email notifications are automatically turned ON for all teachers — even if you’ve never logged in to TalkingPoints. You’ll receive an email for every new message sent to you.
You can adjust your notifications anytime in your profile.
What Email Notifications Do 💬
Email notifications help you stay updated on new messages from families and school admins — even when you’re not logged in.
By default, you’ll receive an email every time a new message arrives.
Manage Notifications on the Web 💻
Log in to the TalkingPoints for Teachers (Web) platform.
Go to Settings > Notifications > Email notifications.
Choose which notifications you’d like to receive:
From families — you’ll get an email whenever a family messages you. (This is always on and cannot be turned off.)
From admins — controls messages or announcements sent by your school or district admins. (Default is on.)
✅ Tip: Both options are on by default to help you stay connected.
📌 Changes you make on web also update your mobile settings.
Manage Notifications on Mobile 📱
Open the TalkingPoints for Teachers mobile app.
Go to Settings > Notifications & Autoreplies > Email notifications.
Adjust your preferences:
Family messages — notifications for messages from families. (Always on.)
From admins — notifications for announcements or messages from your admins. (Default on.)
📌 Changes you make on mobile also update your web settings.
How Notifications Work ✉️
Here’s what happens when email notifications are turned on:
You’ll get an email for every new message.
Notifications send even if the app or website is open.
Notifications send even if you’re not logged in or have never logged in.
Clicking Reply in the email opens the correct message thread in TalkingPoints.
Each email subject line clearly shows who the message is from, for example:
New message from Jordan Lee’s mother
Message Timing ⏱️
When several messages come in close together, TalkingPoints groups them into one email.
Emails are sent in five-minute increments, so you may see multiple messages in a single notification.
FAQs ❓
Can I still get a daily or weekly summary?
No. TalkingPoints no longer sends summary digests. You’ll receive individual notifications for each message.
What if I’m not logged in to TalkingPoints?
You’ll still receive email notifications for any new messages.
How can I opt out of receiving email notifications?
Go to Settings > Notifications > Email notifications, then uncheck “From admins.”
Messages “From families” will always stay on to make sure you never miss a family message.
