Readability Flag Feature for Announcements

Identify how to write clearly and concisely for translation using the Readability Flag feature!

Updated over a month ago

The Readability Flag feature identifies educational lingo that may be difficult for families with varying literacy levels to understand. The feature highlights unfamiliar words and phrases, making the teacher aware of the complexity of the message.

How it works:

Step 1: If you write a message or announcement that exceeds a 6th-grade reading level, an orange flag appears.

Step 2: Click the flag to see why the message was marked. You can also choose the option to not flag your messages again.

Step 3: Simplify the message and send it.

Additional Tool for Writing for Translation:

This feature highlights abbreviations, acronyms, and other misspellings so that the teacher has the opportunity to correct them.

Step 1: Click the highlighted term for a description of the suggested change. Click "yes" to accept the change or "No thanks" to ignore it, and the message will remain the same.

Step 2: If you accept the suggestion, the message will update and you can send it.
