Many large districts have roles assigned to oversee groups of schools — and ideally, these leaders want to be able to have more analytics and management tools available for their assigned schools.
Regional segmentation allows a partner district to assign groups of schools to regions to see regions on the schools page, send messages by region, and filter analytics by region. Leaders who oversee groups of schools within a district can provide data-driven support to those schools with easily accessible data reflecting just the schools in their selected region.
FAQs
When will regional segmentation be available within the TalkingPoints platform?
Regional segmentation can be set up by a Partner Success Manager starting in June 2024.
Who can use regional segmentation?
District partners who are set up on a full district implementation.
What is a region?
A region is a pre-defined group of schools within a district. Districts may refer to these school groupings as areas, units, complexes, or regions within a district.
How does it work?
Once regions are set up by the TalkingPoints team, district-level users will see user interface changes in the platform to reflect the regions. They will be able to see region-specific analytics and comparisons, send messages by region, and see regions on the schools page (see example screenshots below). Note: region information will be visible to partners as soon as the regions are created. The one exception is the analytics pieces that will be updated as part of the nightly data refresh.

If a district-level user is only in charge of one region, they can take the following steps to filter their district-level TalkingPoints experience to reflect only their region.
Can partners set up their own regions?
Not at this time. TalkingPoints staff with the appropriate permissions can set up the regions for the partner to get them started. Partners can contact their Partner Success Manager with questions or to get regions set up for their district. Typically districts will need to provide region names and the list of schools in each region.
Are there any other things to be aware of for regional segmentation?
There are a few criteria for regions to keep in mind.
If regions exist, not all schools must belong to a region
A school cannot belong to more than one region
Region history is not tracked for analytics purposes. This means the analytics will reflect information and history for schools based on their current system region assignment only
As a general rule it is also expected that regions would not change frequently if at all. While regions may change occasionally - like between school years - the feature should be utilized for actual administrative groupings within the district.
