Sending a Newsletter

❗This feature is coming soon! If you are a current TalkingPoints partner with a AFC+, School Engagement or District Engagement package, look for this new functionality in September 2026.

Once your newsletter is ready, here's how to send it, and what families will see when it arrives.

Adding a newsletter to a message

You can attach a newsletter to a message from a few different places. Any newsletter, whether it's still a draft or was already sent before, can be attached and sent again.

Compose window: Click the + to open the attachments menu, choose Newsletters, then pick the one you want.

Student thread: Click the + in a student's message thread, choose Newsletters, then pick the one you want.

From the newsletter editor: Click Preview & Send, then click Send. This opens the compose window with your newsletter already attached.

From the newsletter list: Click the three dots next to a newsletter and choose Send newsletter (for a draft) or Resend newsletter (for one that's already been sent).

🛠️ Tool Tips - Important to Note:

  • Once a newsletter has been sent, it can no longer be edited. Double-check it before sending.

  • Also, newsletters cannot be attached to emergency alerts.

What families receive

How a family experiences your newsletter depends on how you've set them up to receive messages.

Text (SMS) 📲

SMS Messaging Contacts receive a text message with a link. That link takes them to a web page where they can open and read the newsletter.

App ▶️

Family App contacts see a link or button right inside the app. Tapping it opens the newsletter within the app itself, no need to leave the app or open a browser.

Email 📧

If you turn on the email toggle when sending, email-enabled contacts get the newsletter as the full email. Contacts without email will always still receive the message via App/Text, whichever is their preference.

ℹ️ One more thing to know: a newsletter cannot be combined with a formatted email in the same message. It's one or the other.

Language 💬

No matter how a family receives it, they'll see the newsletter in their own TalkingPoints language, with the option to switch to English if they'd like.
