Viewing Newsletter Statistics

❗ This feature is coming soon! If you are a current TalkingPoints partner with a AFC+, School Engagement or District Engagement package, look for this new functionality in September 2026.

Once you've sent a newsletter, you can check how many families have opened it. This article explains what the stats mean and where to find them.

Where to find statistics

Statistics are available for any newsletter you've sent. You can view them from:

  • The newsletter list, using the View statistics action

  • A sent message, by clicking on the newsletter block to open it in a preview window

What the stats show

Newsletter stats work a lot like read receipts. You'll see three groups:

  • Sent: Every contact the newsletter was sent to.

  • Read: Every contact who has opened it, either by clicking the link or, if they got it by email, by opening that email.

  • Not reached: Every student who doesn't yet have at least one contact who has opened the newsletter.

A helpful way to think about "Not reached": this list is about students, not individual contacts. So if a student has two family contacts and just one of them opens the newsletter, that student will no longer show up as "not reached."

If you send a newsletter more than once

Stats add up across every time a newsletter is sent. For example, if you send a newsletter to 10 students, then later send the same newsletter to a different 10 students, your stats will show results for all 20 students combined.

A note on mobile

Open and read statistics can only be viewed on the web. They aren't available in the mobile app, and need to be accessed via the web-based application of TalkingPoints.
