Teach ’n Go allows students and parents (related contacts) to make partial payments directly from the portal. This is helpful when families want to pay in instalments rather than settling the full balance at once. This guide explains how partial payments work and how to complete one step by step.
Enabling partial payments for students and related contacts
Go to School settings from the left-hand menu.
Click Portal settings under the General section.
Toggle Allow partial payment to On for students or related contacts as needed.
Click Save to apply your changes.
Making a partial payment in the portal
Log in to the Student Portal or Parent Portal.
Go to the Payments section from the left-hand menu.
Select the outstanding payment you want to pay.
Review the payment items listed on the screen.
In the payment summary area:
Untick Pay in full.
Enter the amount you want to pay in the Amount to pay field.
Click Pay Now and complete the payment using the available payment method (for example, Stripe).
When a partial payment is made, the user is shown a clear summary of how the payment has been applied. This breakdown highlights which fees have been paid in full, which have been partially paid, and which items (if any) were removed from the payment. This helps students and parents clearly understand how their payment was allocated before they confirm and complete the transaction.
Paying the full amount instead
To pay the full balance, simply leave the Pay in full checkbox ticked
The total amount due will be filled in automatically, and you can proceed with payment.
What happens after a partial payment is completed
The payment is recorded immediately in Teach ’n Go.
The remaining balance stays on the student’s account as outstanding.
Students or parents can return to the portal at any time to pay the remaining amount.
Administrators can view all partial and full payments in the Payments section or the student's profile.
Troubleshooting
Can’t enter a custom amount?
Make sure the Pay in full checkbox is not selected.
Payment not showing?
Refresh the page or check the Payments section after completing payment.
Remaining balance looks wrong?
Contact your school admin to review the payment items.
Summary
Partial payments give your students and families flexibility while keeping payment records accurate and up to date in Teach ’n Go. Students and parents can choose to pay in full or in smaller amounts over time directly through the portal.
