Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

How to enable Two-Factor Authentication for Teach 'n Go accounts

Written by Abdullah Al-Hussein

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account. When enabled, you’ll need to enter a 6-digit verification code sent to your email address each time you sign in, in addition to your password.

This helps protect your account even if someone else knows your password.

How to Enable 2FA

For Admins, Staff, and Teachers

  1. Go to Users.

  2. Open your profile.

  3. Click on the Security tab.

For Students

  1. Go to Account.

  2. Open the Security tab.

Enable the Feature

  1. In the Two-factor authentication (2FA) section, click Enable two-factor authentication.

  2. A confirmation message will appear. Click Yes, enable 2FA.

  3. Once enabled, you’ll see a green “2FA is enabled” badge confirming that the feature is active.

Important:
You must have a valid email address saved on your account before enabling 2FA. If your email address is missing, you’ll be prompted to update your profile first.

Signing In with 2FA

Once 2FA is enabled, the sign-in process changes slightly:

  1. Enter your username/email and password as normal.

  2. A 6-digit verification code will be sent to your email address.

  3. You’ll be redirected to the verification screen.

  4. Enter the code and click Verify and sign in.

  5. If the code is correct, you’ll be logged in successfully.

Important Information

  • Verification codes expire after 10 minutes.

  • Each code can only be used once.

Resending the Verification Code

If you do not receive the verification email:

  1. Click Resend code on the verification page.

  2. You can resend the code up to 3 times during a sign-in attempt.

After the resend limit is reached, you’ll need to restart the sign-in process.

How to Disable 2FA

  1. Return to the Security tab in your account settings.

  2. Click Disable two-factor authentication.

  3. Confirm by clicking Yes, disable 2FA.

Once disabled, future logins will only require your password.

Account Lockout Protection

For additional security, your account will be temporarily locked if the wrong password is entered 5 times in a row.

  • Lockout duration: 30 minutes

  • Alternatively, you can reset your password immediately to regain access.

Tips

  • Make sure your email address is up to date before enabling 2FA.

  • Check your spam or junk folder if the verification email does not arrive.

  • If you lose access to your email account, contact your school administrator for assistance.

Two-factor authentication helps keep your Teach ’n Go account secure by adding an extra verification step during sign-in. We strongly recommend enabling 2FA for improved account protection and security.
