The lesson feedback template is a school setting that pre-fills the Add lesson feedback box on the lesson card. Instead of starting from an empty box, your teachers see the headings or questions your school wants answered after every lesson.
Your school may use different names for lessons, teachers and classes. If you don't see the menu items below, ask your admin to check your permissions.
Setting up the template
This setting is not on the main School settings menu — it's inside the Classes accordion section, which you need to expand first.
Go to Settings → School settings.
Expand the Classes section (this may be relabelled, e.g. Courses or Groups, to match your school's terminology).
Open the Class settings tab inside that section.
Type your template into the Lesson feedback template box. It is a rich-text editor, so you can use headings, bold text and bullet points.
Click Save.
The template takes effect immediately, including for teachers who are already logged in.
How the pre-fill works
When a teacher opens the lesson card and adds feedback for a student who has no feedback for that lesson yet, the box opens pre-filled with the template. The teacher edits or replaces the text, then saves as normal.
New feedback only — the template appears when the box would otherwise be empty
Existing feedback is never touched — opening a saved note shows the note, not the template
Nothing is saved automatically — a pre-filled box the teacher closes without saving leaves no feedback behind
Changing the template does not update feedback that has already been saved. It only changes what new, empty feedback boxes start with.
Turning it off
Clear the Lesson feedback template box and click Save. Feedback boxes start empty again.
Troubleshooting
Can't find the Class settings tab? — expand the Classes (or your school's renamed equivalent) accordion section on the School settings page first. It's not a top-level tab.
Still can't see it as an admin? — this is not a permissions or browser-cache issue for admins; check the accordion first before assuming it's an access problem.
