My shift was cancelled. Why?

There are several possible reasons your Temper Staff shift was cancelled

Written by Temper | Work to Live

Your shift may be cancelled by the hiring company or by Temper. Below are the most common reasons:

  • The hiring company no longer requires your services.

Clients can cancel shifts if they no longer need your help. If they cancel more than 48 hours before the shift, there are no consequences. However, if they cancel within 48 hours of the scheduled start time, you’re entitled to 100% of the expected wage.

  • Your total planned working hours exceed legal limits.

To comply with the Dutch Working Hours Act (Arbeidstijdenwet), Temper may cancel shifts if you exceed legal limits. For example, if you work more than 55 hours in a week or take on too many night shifts, any additional shifts may be cancelled to stay within the legal limits. This protects your health and safety. • You’ve reached the maximum number of strikes or there are disciplinary reasons.

If you’ve accumulated multiple strikes or there’s a disciplinary issue, Temper may cancel your upcoming shifts.

  • You’ve reported being sick.

If you’ve called in sick and indicated how long you’ll be unavailable, any shifts scheduled during that period may be cancelled. You are primarily responsible for cancelling your own shifts as soon as you know you’re unable to work due to illness.
